So SUP Jousting... is just a "Medieval style jousts", it is exactly what the medieval tournament was. Except for one or two little things ... No horses in this case, but two SUP boards, that must pass each other on the left, much like horses in conventional land jousts. - And of course no deaths !! it's a fun game!!
It is expected that the joustling games will attract large crowds of supporters and spectators. This game is very visiualy spectacular and the rules are simple.
One jouster on each SUP board. They pass each other on the left, much like horses did in conventional land jousts.
It’s not racing, it’s not cruising, it’s not event gliding. It’s jousting, SUP jousting, and it is done on water, standing on a SUP board and with the paddle in your hands. This SUP “discipline” is an offshoot of canoe jousting, a popular form of water sports entertaining activity. SUP jousting has been practiced since the inception of SUP in many parts of the world, but has never been much advertised.
Next year, SUP jousting will be part of the Algarve SUP Festival which starts on the 16 May 2015.
This event is open to adults only, and the rules are quite simple: knock down your opponent off the board. Of course, the participants must wear helmets and PFDs to avoid injuries and the paddles uses special soft endings.
The Paddleboard Jousting competition should be fun and exciting. It's a very funny and pleasant way to spend time while you are here.
